Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Which version do I have installed?
A: FileUtils Pro does not yet publish a Forge version visible in Apps → Manage apps. Until then, documented releases appear in the selector with the (pre) suffix (for example, 1.2.0 (pre)), indicating an internal MB Group release without a verifiable Manage apps version.
When the add-on is deployed to Forge in production, the selector will show the Forge version (for example, 2.0.0) and the changelog will include the MB Group Release ↔ Forge mapping table.
Q: What types of files can I merge?
A: You can merge .pdf files and images in .jpg, .png and .jpeg formats.
Q: Is there a file limit for merging?
A: There is no strict limit imposed by the interface, but we recommend not exceeding 10 files to ensure optimal performance during cloud processing.
Q: What happens to images when merged with a PDF?
A: FileUtils Pro automatically converts each image into an independent PDF page, maintaining its aspect ratio, and inserts it into the final document according to the order established in the Staging column.
Q: Why is the "Merge" button disabled?
A: The button is enabled only when you have moved at least two files to the Staging column (the right column).
Q: Can I recover the original files if I selected "Attach and delete originals"?
A: No. This action is definitive as the files are removed from Jira to keep the Work Item clean. If you need to keep the originals, we recommend using the Attach to ticket option.
Q: Where are my files processed?
A: Merge processing and image conversion are performed securely directly in the user's web browser, guaranteeing data privacy. For the conversion of Word and Excel documents, the secure external service Cloud Convert is used via the provided API.
Q: What formats can I convert to PDF?
A: Currently, you can individually convert Word files (.doc, .docx), Excel workbooks (.xls, .xlsx), and images (.png, .jpg, .jpeg) to PDF format. Reverse conversion (from PDF to other formats) is not supported.
Q: How many files can I convert simultaneously?
A: You can select and process up to a maximum of 3 files at the same time in the conversion tab.
Q: Why do I need a Cloud Convert API Key and how does the usage limit work?
A: Converting complex files like Word or Excel requires a specialized external engine. Cloud Convert provides this service. You can register a free Cloud Convert account that includes a daily limit of free conversions (sufficient for moderate use). If you need to perform a larger number of conversions, you can upgrade your subscription directly with that external provider.
