Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Which version do I have installed?

A: The verifiable version in Jira Cloud is the one shown in Apps → Manage apps (for example, 6.0.0). That is the Forge version.

In this documentation site, the version selector shows:

  • The Forge version (for example, 6.0.0) for releases already deployed to production.
  • The (pre) suffix (for example, 1.2.0 (pre)) for earlier internal MB Group releases without a verifiable Manage apps version.

Each changelog entry shows the correspondence in the format Release X.Y.Z · Forge A.B.C.

Q: Is FileUtils Pro available on the Atlassian Marketplace?

A: Not yet. You can install it using the link in the introduction. The installed version is visible in Apps → Manage apps.

Q: What types of files can I merge?

A: You can merge .pdf files and images in .jpg, .png and .jpeg formats.

Q: Is there a file limit for merging?

A: There is no strict limit imposed by the interface, but we recommend not exceeding 10 files to ensure optimal performance during cloud processing.

Q: What happens to images when merged with a PDF?

A: FileUtils Pro automatically converts each image into an independent PDF page, maintaining its aspect ratio, and inserts it into the final document according to the order established in the Staging column.

Q: Why is the "Merge" button disabled?

A: The button is enabled only when you have moved at least two files to the Staging column (the right column). It also remains disabled if there are invalid files in staging (maximum size exceeded or unsupported format).

Q: How does the Compress tab work?

A: The Compress tab groups ticket attachments into a .zip file. You can edit the output name, watch the operation progress, and choose to attach the .zip to the ticket, attach and delete the originals, or download only. See the How to Compress Files guide.

Q: Why is the "Compress" button disabled?

A: The button is enabled when there is at least 1 valid file in staging. It stays disabled if the area is empty or if there are invalid files (maximum size exceeded or unsupported format). Those files are marked with a badge, tooltip, and visual highlight.

Q: Can I recover the original files if I selected "Attach and delete originals"?

A: No. This action is definitive as the files are removed from Jira to keep the Work Item clean. If you need to keep the originals, we recommend using the Attach to ticket option.

Q: What happens if the application shows an unexpected error?

A: FileUtils Pro shows a recovery screen with options to retry or reload the work desk. On connection failures, the system performs automatic retries.

Q: Where are my files processed?

A: Merging, compression, and image conversion are performed directly in the user's web browser. Files are not sent to CloudConvert.

Q: What formats can I convert to PDF?

A: Currently, you can convert images (.png, .jpg, .jpeg) to PDF format. Word and Excel conversion is temporarily unavailable. Reverse conversion is not supported.

Q: How many files can I convert simultaneously?

A: You can select and process up to a maximum of 3 files at the same time in the conversion tab.

Q: Can I convert Word or Excel documents?

A: This conversion is temporarily unavailable in the current version. Image-to-PDF conversion remains available.

Q: What does Runs on Atlassian mean?

A: FileUtils Pro is eligible for the Runs on Atlassian badge. Its main operations process files without sending them to external services.

Q: What are attachment labels?

A: They are reusable FileUtils Pro labels that you can create by space, assign to one or more attachments, and remove in bulk. You can set a color and edit them. They appear next to each file in FileUtils Pro views. They do not necessarily replace Jira's native labels; they organize attachments within FileUtils Pro.

Q: Where can I manage an attachment's labels?

A: From the Attachment Labels panel inside the work item, you can view files in list or gallery view, filter or group them by label, and assign labels without leaving the ticket. You can also do this from the Space attachments page.

Q: Why can't I see an attachment in the Space attachments view?

A: The view only includes attachments from work items you can see and displays up to 100 attachments. Check your permissions first. If the space has more results, use search and filters to narrow the list.

Q: How do I rename an attachment?

A: Open the ticket options and select Rename attachments. Select one or more files, enter the new base name, and confirm. The extension is preserved. FileUtils Pro uploads a replacement and deletes the original only after the upload completes successfully.

Q: Why can't I change the extension?

A: Rename attachments changes only the base name. The extension is preserved so that the file is not identified as a format different from its actual format.

Q: Why can an embedded image break after an attachment is renamed?

A: Renaming replaces the file, but embeds in comments or descriptions are not updated automatically. A preview or link pointing to the original file may therefore stop working. Updating those references is not available yet.

Q: Does FileUtils Pro work in Data Center or the customer portal?

A: No. This functionality is available in Jira Cloud for users with access to the relevant work items. Data Center and the Jira Service Management customer portal are outside the product scope.
