Introduction

Welcome to the official documentation of FileUtils Pro! 🚀

FileUtils Pro transforms the attachment management experience in Jira Cloud, moving from a simple list of files to a suite of productivity tools integrated directly into your Work Items.

The interface follows the user's Jira profile or context locale when available. Spanish and English are currently supported; if the Jira language has no translation, the interface falls back to English.

This plugin eliminates the friction of the traditional workflow that forces users to download files, open external tools, edit, save, and re-upload the document. With FileUtils Pro, all processing happens in the cloud, within the user's work context.

How to get this plugin?

FileUtils Pro is not yet available in the Atlassian Marketplace, but you can perform an immediate installation using the following link: Install FileUtils Pro.

Prerequisites:

  • You must have Jira Administrator permissions (Jira Administrator or Site Administrator) to perform the installation.
  • An active internet connection and access to your Jira Cloud instance.

The Value of FileUtils Pro

In the Jira Cloud ecosystem, document management is often a fragmented process. FileUtils Pro centralizes these tasks in a virtual "work desk," allowing you to manipulate attachments without leaving the platform.

  • Operational Efficiency: Reduces time spent on manual administrative tasks.
  • Work Context: Keep the focus on the ticket while processing the necessary documentation.
  • Security and Centralization: By processing information directly in the user's web browser, data privacy is guaranteed and file dispersion in local download folders is avoided.

Main Features

  • Integrated Work Desk: An intuitive modal accessible from any work item that centralizes file operations.
  • Native Visual Compatibility: Full support for Jira's Light and Dark themes, ensuring a consistent and professional visual experience in any configuration.
  • Document Merging: Combine multiple PDF files and images into a single consolidated PDF document.
  • Image Conversion: Convert images (.jpg, .png, .jpeg) to PDF directly in the browser. Word and Excel document conversion is temporarily unavailable.
  • ZIP Compression: Group multiple ticket attachments into a single .zip file for easier sending and storage.
  • Attachment labels: Create reusable labels by space, assign them to one or more files, and remove them in bulk. You can set a color and edit labels when needed.
  • Attachment Labels panel: View and manage files from the work item in a list or gallery view; filter or group them by label.
  • Space attachments: Browse attachments from visible work items in a space, search them, and apply filters or labels in bulk.
  • Rename attachments: Change a file's base name without manually uploading it again. The extension is preserved and the name is validated before processing.
  • Automatic Conversion in Merging: Images are automatically transformed into PDF pages when merged.
  • Visual Validations: Preventive warnings with badge, tooltip, and visual highlight for files that cannot be processed (maximum size or incompatible format).
  • Flexible Output Management: Choose what to do with the result: attach it to the ticket, replace the originals, or simply download it.
  • Error Recovery: Recovery screen, automatic retries, and clear messages for Jira errors.
Rename considerations

When an attachment is renamed, FileUtils Pro creates a replacement and deletes the original only after confirming that the upload completed successfully. File embeds in comments or descriptions are not updated automatically, so previews or links to the original file may stop working.

The Space attachments view lists up to 100 attachments from work items visible to the user. FileUtils Pro is available for Jira Cloud; Data Center and the Jira Service Management customer portal are not included.

Runs on Atlassian

FileUtils Pro is eligible for the Runs on Atlassian badge. Merging, compression, and image conversion are performed without sending files to external services.

Who is this for?

  • Operations Teams: Who need to consolidate evidence or reports quickly.
  • Jira Administrators: Looking for tools that improve the UX of their end users.
  • Any Jira Cloud user who handles multiple attachments and seeks to reduce unnecessary clicks in their daily routine.
