Data Center to Cloud Migration (JCMA)
The Dynamic Work Item Picker (DWIP) plugin for Jira Cloud includes full support for the automatic migration of data and configurations from Jira Data Center environments to Jira Cloud using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA).
How Migration Works
The data migration process is not initiated from the Cloud side; instead, it runs as part of the Jira instance migration process using the JCMA tool on the Data Center side:
- Export from Data Center: The counterpart add-on in Data Center, Jira Issue Picker DC, integrates with JCMA to package and export field configurations and issue associations.
- Reception in Cloud (Listener): The Cloud version of DWIP features a specialized listener (receiver). Upon migration completion, this listener securely receives the exported data package.
- Processing and Linking: The receiver processes the incoming information, validates that issue links remain valid in the new Cloud environment, and automatically writes the values to the corresponding fields of each migrated ticket.
This process is transparent and automatic. Once the migration is configured in JCMA, your Dynamic Work Item Picker field values will be preserved without requiring manual intervention or post-migration scripts.
Configuration and Steps in Data Center
Since the entire process of configuring and executing the migration is performed from the source instance in Data Center, you must follow the specific export instructions in the Data Center documentation.
