Introduction to LogSense for Jira
Welcome to the official documentation for LogSense for Jira! 🎉
LogSense for Jira is a Forge app for Jira Cloud that delivers intelligent time tracking: billable / non-billable classification, work types, daily hour limits, holiday blocking, site-wide global settings, per-space settings in Space settings, restored admin access, eazyBI integration, issue panel as visual summary, and worklog approval workflow, plus dashboard gadgets for the billable hours report and the pending approvals queue.
The app acts as Jira's time tracking provider, replacing the native Log work experience with LogSense metadata logging. The UI adapts to the user's language in Jira (English and Spanish).
LogSense for Jira is not yet available on the Atlassian Marketplace, but you can install it immediately using this link: Install LogSense for Jira.
Prerequisites:
- You must have Jira Administrator or Site Administrator permissions to install the app.
- An active internet connection and access to your Jira Cloud instance.

Who is this app for?
LogSense for Jira is designed for consulting teams, agencies, service desks, and operations that need to log time with billing context, enforce per-person daily limits, gain billable hours visibility on dashboards, and—when using eazyBI—report billable/work type without ad hoc integrations.

Features
Time tracking provider (Preview)
- Forge module
jira:timeTrackingProvider(logsense-time-provider). - When LogSense is activated in Settings → Work items → Time tracking, the native Log work UI disappears.
- Entry points: Log work issue action, Work log tab, and provider administration.
Enriched time logging
- Date picker with calendar (user locale).
- Time shortcuts (15m, 30m, 1h, 2h, 4h).
- Progress bars for issue estimate and daily limit.
- Metadata fields: billable, work type, and notes.
Worklog editing
- Edit existing worklogs from the issue panel and Work log tab, respecting Jira native permissions.
- Editable fields include time, date, work type, billable, and notes.
- If you don't have permission to edit, the Edit button is not shown.
Required Notes
- Administrators can enable Require notes in global or per-space configuration.
- When active, the Notes field is mandatory when creating or editing a worklog.
Issue panel as visual summary
- The side panel (
jira:issuePanel) functions as an issue metrics dashboard, providing KPIs (total logged, billable / non-billable, % billable), a breakdown by work type, estimated vs. spent time by work type, and threshold alerts.
Worklog approval
- When the administrator enables Enable approval workflow in global or per-space settings, new worklogs are created in PENDING state and do not count toward totals or reports until approved.
- APPROVED worklogs are effective for LogSense; REJECTED are excluded from totals.
- Approvers are configurable per space in Space Settings → LogSense Settings → General.
- Existing worklogs before enabling the workflow are treated as APPROVED (backward compatibility).

- The official LogSense for Jira logo is now available in the documentation and app materials.
- Light and dark variants included.
Site-wide global settings
LogSense — Global Settings panel (jira:adminPage, logsense-global-admin):
- General, Work Types, and Holidays at site level.
- Global → space inheritance with per-space override and Reset to Site Defaults.
- eazyBI tab with snippets for external reporting.

Dashboard gadgets
LogSense provides two gadgets for reviewing work from a dashboard:
- Billable hours: displays the report for the configured space and month, and identifies tickets whose total LogSense time exceeds their original estimate.
- Pending approvals: displays worklogs awaiting approval for one or more spaces and lets authorized users approve or reject them directly from the dashboard.

Per-space configuration leaves the main space navigation and moves into Space settings, aligning better with administration permissions and reducing exposure to non-admin users.
