Languages and Locales
Admin Essentials for Jira automatically adapts its interface to the language of the Jira site where it is installed. No configuration is needed in the add-on itself: if your Jira site uses Spanish, the application detects it and displays all its texts in that language.
Available languages
| Locale code | Language | Available from |
|---|---|---|
en-US | English (default) | v2.0.0 |
es-ES | Spanish | v5.0.0 |
How to activate Spanish
The application automatically follows the Jira site locale. If your Jira site is configured in Spanish (es-ES), the add-on UI will be displayed in Spanish automatically when you open any field or validator.
To review or change the site's default language:
- Click the Settings (gear) icon in the top-right corner → System.
- Under Internationalization, select Default language.
- Choose Spanish (Spain) and save your changes.
Jira allows each user to choose their own language under Profile → Language preferences. Admin Essentials respects this individual preference: if a user has the site in English but their profile in Spanish, they will see the add-on in Spanish.
What is translated
The Spanish translation covers all user-facing and administrator-facing interfaces in the add-on:
| Area | What you see in Spanish |
|---|---|
| Custom fields (Email, Phone, Traffic Light KPI, Currency, Percentage) | Field names and descriptions · Validation error messages · Threshold configuration form labels |
| Fields Required validator | Validator configuration UI · Error message shown to users during transition |
| Field Dependency validator | Configuration UI · All operator labels · Colour picker (Red / Yellow / Green) · Error messages during transition |
| Licensing | "License required" notice · Free trial period text |
Out of scope
The following elements are not localised in the current version:
- The custom error messages that each administrator writes in the validator configuration — those texts are defined by the administrator and displayed as-is.
- The field names the administrator assigns when creating each field (they are free strings stored in Jira).
- The repository README and technical documentation.
- Locales other than
en-USandes-ES.
