Installation Guide

Installing the Admin Essentials add-on is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to get started.

Prerequisites

• You must be a Jira Administrator to install or update applications.
• Your Jira Data Center instance must be compatible with the add-on version you are installing (see Compatibility).
• Starting with version 2.0.0, the add-on requires Jira Data Center 11.3 or later (Java 21). This release is not compatible with Jira 10.x.

Upgrading from a previous version

• Your site is already on Jira Data Center 11.3: you can upgrade from 1.4.0 to 2.0.0 using the standard UPM process. No migration of thresholds, field contexts, or workflow rules is required.
• Your site is still on Jira 10.x: do not install version 2.0.0; stay on version 1.4.0, which is compatible with Jira 10.x, until you upgrade your Jira instance.

Jira Data Center Compatibility (Multi-Node)

Admin Essentials is designed to run in Jira Data Center environments with one or multiple nodes. The add-on does not maintain local state on the node and operates stably in clustered high-availability configurations.

Manual Installation (Using a File)

Once you have downloaded the add-on file (.jar or .obr), you can install it manually:

1. Log in to Jira as an administrator.
2. Navigate to Administration > Manage apps.
3. Click Upload app.
4. Click Choose file and select the add-on file you downloaded.
5. Click Upload. The add-on will be installed and you will receive a confirmation message.
